The Center for Local Governance and Professional Development Incorporated was originally incorporated as the Center for Local Governance, Research and Consultancy Incorporated in May 2015 and was initially based in the Municipality of Lopez, Quezon and rented Office at the Philippine Social Science Center, Commonwealth Avenue from May 2015 to March 2019.
It was established by well-meaning educators and researchers which saw the huge need to provide local elected officials from the Barangay, Municipality, City up to the Provincial level with the sound empirically motivated recommendations on the various concerns of local governance.
Moreover, the Center was established to provide the necessary and relevant training intended to further capacitate locally elected officials in the field of Public Governance.
The present Center for Local Governance is now a product of a change of Incorporators and has maintained its core competence of research and consultancy which was added to providing professional development specially to the teaching profession. The new center was renamed and its revised and expanded incorporation documents registered with the Securities and Exchance Commission (SEC) on November 17, 2017.
The Center has recently bought its own office space at Iris Street, West Fairview, Quezon and has embarked with REX Publishing House in the preparation and production of a Barangay Management Handbook on Leadership Management as its concrete contibution to the further provide the 42, 000 Barangays of the Country with a complete and comprehensive guide on barangay governance towards national development.
Since its organization in May 2015 and its limited resources, the Center has endeavored to be an alternative venue for elected local officials to acquire mastery in public service and governance by way of shared experiences in public service and academically based learnings.
